Did you get bitten by a Guru?

If you haven’t checked out Bob Dratch’s hilarious article, do so the next chance you get. It may save your life, or at the very least, give you a good laugh.

A new “virus” has been discovered.

It’s symptoms vary, but the predominant characteristics are:

  • Unexplained desire to worship someone or something - this “thing” seems like the best thing that ever happened
  • Unexplained babbling about how one’s “life” has been changed recently by an encounter with some “enlightened one”
  • Desire to get more people into the “movement” - they might do workshops to get more involved with the “movement”
  • Feeling one must frequently do a certain Mantra or Meditation to stay balanced
  • Stupid “glee of insanity” that shows up in the mirror or when confronting others on the street
  • Willingness to “attack” anyone not part of the “movement” or not following the belief system of the “leader” of the group
  • Total denial that “anything” is wrong - “Everything is just sweetness and light…”
  • Constant feelings that one is now in the “God-self” - a feeling of superiority over others and to look down on others
  • Recent encounter with a charismatic “Guru-type” willing to spout stories that they walked in to save you and the race
  • Desire to emulate the GURU - to try to be like him or her, to convince others to act the same, do the same things

Have you met anyone with these symptoms? If so, have compassion - they are in a fragile position - really not responsible for themselves or their actions. They’ve been bitten!! They are trapped and feeding the GURU, keeping it in power. They are loosing themselves, sinking into “groupie mentality” as programmed by the GURU. Use caution as they might do unpredictable things, not what one might expect from a rational person.

Are they responsible for their actions - Alas, I feel no - they know not what they do - they are under the influence!

Read the rest of this masterpiece over at The Guru Virus. You’ll be glad you did.
